"Whistler's Pretty Women"
Saturday, February 3
2:00–3:00 p.m.
Art Historian Susan Hobbs, Ph. D., will present the opening lecture for James McNeill Whistler: Selected Works from the Hunterian Art Gallery. Dr. Hobbs received her doctorate from Cornell University; she was the first joint curator of American art at the Freer Gallery of Art, Smithsonian Institution, and the National Museum of American Art, and was the guest curator for the Freer's exhibition Pretty Women: Freer and the Ideal of Feminine Beauty, which featured several painting by Whistler.

"James McNeill Whistler: The Man and His Art"
Thursday, March 15
5:30–7:00 p.m.
Gayle Seymour, Ph. D., will present a lecture on Whistler and his work, centered around the paintings and prints in the exhibition. Dr. Seymour is a Professor of Art History, and has taught at the University of Central Arkansas since 1986.

First Friday Art Tours
First Friday Art Tours are designed to further the understanding and appreciation of art in an informal atmosphere. Tours are held the first Friday of each month.

Chamber Music Presentation
"Art Music of Whistler's Day"
Wednesday, February 7
2:30 p.m.
Tyler Classical Consort will perform music contemporary to James McNeill Whistler. The performance will be accompanied by a short talk on this music.

Whistler Family Day
Sunday, March 4
2:00–4:00 p.m.
Enjoy art activities, refreshments and a gallery treasure hunt during this special Family Day held in conjunction with the exhibition.
Price: Participation in Family Day activities is free; a special discounted exhibition admission of $10 per familiy will be available (exhibition admission is required to participate in the gallery treasure hunt). Reservations requested, call 903-595-1001.

Seniors Day
Monday, April 16
10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Once a year the Museum opens its doors to East Texas seniors (65+) to offer exclusive access to the Museum. Along with free admission, the Museum will provide hourly docent-led tours.

Workshop
"Everything You Always Wanted to Know about Fine Prints but Were Afraid to Ask"
Saturday, April 28

Kevin Vogel (Valley House Gallery, Dallas) will lead a workshop on fine print collecting. Using French and other prints as examples, he will discuss the various kinds of prints and printmaking techniques, as well as what to look for in prints when acquiring, and what the market is for different kinds of prints.
Price: TMA members $10, adults $20, seniors (65+) and students (with ID) $15 (reservations required).

Whistler Group Tours
Tyler Museum of Art is offering discounted ticket pricing for clubs and organizations that want to schedule group visits during the Whistler exhibition (February 3–April 29, 2007).

Special exhibition ticket rates of $5.00 per ticket are available for groups booking at least two weeks in advance, with a minimum of 10 adults (children's tickets remain at regular price).

If your group wants to schedule a docent-led tour, an additional charge of $20 will be charged per group of 15 visitors. Groups numbering more than 15 will need to be divided so all guests will have adequate access to the exhibition pieces. For very large groups, sequential tour times may need to be scheduled.
