Scott Grant Barker Lecture
Thursday, August 26 at 5:30 p.m.

The Tyler Museum of Art will present a lecture by Scott Grant Barker on Thursday, August 26 at 5:30 p.m. as part of the Museum’s 2004 Lecture Series. The lecture is entitled “The Open Window: Murray P. Bewley, Fort Worth and the Wider World of Art” and is in conjunction with the exhibition Texas Art in the Permanent Collection on display at TMA through September 5.

Scott Grant Barker, co-founder of Collectors of Fort Worth Art, curated the Ft. Worth Public Library’s centennial art exhibition in 2000. In 2001, he was involved in planning an exhibition organized by the Old Jail Art Center titled The French Connection: Murray P. Bewley and James R. Blake. Barker’s lecture at TMA will focus on the artist Murray P. Bewley and his influence on younger artists’ pursuit of fine art as a profession. The exhibition Texas Art in the Permanent Collection features a painting by Bewley titled Young Girl (1925).

The exhibition and lecture are free and open to the public. There will be a reception preceding the presentation. Please call 903-595-1001 for reservations. Seating is limited.
