Little Black Dress Heats Up

Swagger and sophistication meet in a twist on the Tyler Museum of Art fall fete’s annual theme, as the “Little Black Dress” leaves the red carpet for the California hills. Baubles, Bangles & Beads: An Evening in Palm Springs is the theme for the eighth annual signature event known as Little Black Dress. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, at 6:30 p.m. on the TMA grounds, 1300 S. Mahon Ave., adjacent to the Tyler Junior College campus.

Tickets to the event are $100 per person for TMA members and $125 for non-members, and are available by calling (903) 595-1001. All proceeds from the event benefit the Tyler Museum of Art.

“This year’s event will transport our guests to a retro-chic, Palm Springs paradise,” says Caroline King Wylie, TMA Development Assistant and Special Events Coordinator. “Come ready to dance and enjoy our cool ‘Rat Pack’ ambience!”

Guests at Little Black Dress will enjoy food and drink styled to compliment the retro theme. Dinner, desserts, and hors d’oeuvres will be prepared by Rick’s Restaurant & Catering, and the Palm Springs décor will be designed by Raymond Krueger of Jerry’s Flowers. Finishing off the evening’s motif will be the Melani Skybell Trio, performing live jazz standards and rat pack classics.

One of the evening’s highlights will be the Live Auction, which features items created by local artists to reflect the Baubles, Bangles & Beads theme, as well as auctioneer Sheriff J.B. Smith. Participating artists include Dana Adams; Debbie Blalock; March Ferguson; Yvette Leihgeber; Hila Green; Larry Lott; Becky Martin; Bill Muscato; Cynthia Riter; Jeri Rochelle-Noble; Chris Stewart; William Young; and Gregory Zeorlin. Other contributors to the auction include Bridgette's, Brighton, Cavender’s and Murphey the Jeweler (Shannon Murphey).
