 As 2007 draws to a close, we pause to give thanks for all the good things that the past year has afforded us. The Tyler Museum of Art is thankful for the support we have been given over the years from a generous community, and ask you to continue in that giving spirit by considering a special end of year gift to the Museum. 2007 was a successful year for the Museum as nearly 20,000 people came through our doors. We offered high-caliber exhibitions, educational programs and lectures, school tours and many other activities to these visitors – most of them free of charge – because of our loyal members and supporters. As a public, non-profit institution, we must raise most of our operating funds through memberships, grants, fund-raising events and gifts to the Museum. The Trustees and staff of TMA believe firmly in enriching the lives of East Texas citizens and visitors – through the collection, preservation, study, exhibition, interpretation, and celebration of the visual arts – by continuing to offer world-renowned exhibitions and quality programming. In this fast-paced, high-tech world, we feel this mission is more important than ever. Of course, there is a cost to realize this mission, and it is one that continues to increase. We are excited about the 2008 offerings and expect high attendance at such exhibitions as Graham Williford's America; The Eye of the Collector: The Jewish Vision of Sigmund Balka, and our upcoming exhibition from the Permanent Collection. The expenses for such exhibitions can be high, but we feel they are worth every penny. We know that when you come to the Museum, you will agree with us. As you give thanks for all that is good, please remember the good feeling that comes from making a difference in your community, and consider making a gift to the Tyler Museum of Art.
